― Project yourself on a distant object ―

When traveling, the scenery, the city, and the details such as furniture can feel like you're used to it. Are you still unconsciously looking for something nostalgic even though you've come so far, or is it the gender that every human being has?
For me, Japan in this space was the above-mentioned Japan seen in the distance, the Japan that dwells inside me and is inherited from my ancestors.

― 遠くのものに自分を投影する ―

旅をしている時、風景が、街が、家具などのディテールが、ふと見慣れているようなものに感じる時がある。こんなに遠くに来たのに、まだ無意識に懐かしいものを探しているのか、それともそれは人間誰しもが持つ性（さが）なのか。
この空間での日本とは、私にとっては、上記のような、遠くのものに見る日本、私の内部に宿っている、祖先から受け継いだ日本であった。

ON MAKING :

  • MATERIAL : Laser cut blackened steel plate（レーザー加工黒皮鉄板）
    Glass（フロートガラス、耐熱ガラス）
    Natural stone tile（天然石タイル）
    Roll forming steel pipe（冷間成形角形鋼管）

  • POINTS : Relocated beams, lanterns, hearths, masks, hunting guns, paintings
    Newly designed pillars, steel sliding doors, plastering walls with 4 or 5 layers, black mortar floors filled with natural stone tiles, metal wall-finished toilets, etc.

    I tried to design it to go somewhere else with oldness and newness

    移築した梁、灯篭、囲炉裏，お面、猟銃、絵画
    新しく設計した柱、スチール引戸、4,5層重ねた左官の壁、天然石のタイルを埋めた墨モルタルの床、壁面金属板仕上のトイレなど

    古さと新しさでどこか別の場所へいける設計を試みた
